ROUTING NUMBER

ROUTING NUMBER

A routing number, or routing transit number (RTN), is a 9–digit number assigned to financial institutions in the United States by The American Bankers Association (ABA) to identify the financial institution upon which a payment was drawn.  It can be found on your checks (see example below).  In addition to your account number, the routing number is needed to set up a direct deposit and when sending a wire.
